Dear humans,
Yesterday, Amazon decided to offer all independent authors the opportunity to set preorders for up to a year in advance rather than the previous three months.
As you may be aware, the female has already finished her schedule and planning for the year. As such, she knows when all of her projects will be finished. This has led to… you guessed it! Preorders!
Preorders for you, preorders for you, and preorders for you!
Yes, yes you CAN has preorders!
So. Some are expected. Steel Heart and Blood Bound are now available on Amazon for preorder. Hooray!
You can check this reading list for most of the new preorders. There are some missing. Some are missing links. It’s a work in progress. The female will try to handle these in the next week or two, but she’s been juggling a lot, and, truth be told, she doesn’t get too many wide preorders. (For example, she might get fifty preorders before release week for all wide vendors combined on a book that gets fifteen hundred plus preorders on Amazon.) So, she has had to prioritize things somewhat.
But don’t worry. She loves you wide readers, and they’ll be coming soon.
Here is the complete list of the female’s preorders, listed by release date (Amazon links.):
October 31, 2019: Bat out of Hell by Bernadette Franklin. $2.99.
November 5, 2019: Ginger Snapped by Bernadette Franklin. $3.99. (Price will change to $4.99 on release day. The book is a lot longer than expected. Preorder if you want the price to be $3.99, or forever hold your peace.)
November 26, 2019: Water Witch by RJ Blain. $6.99. Includes Double Trouble: A Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count.)
November 26, 2019: Double Trouble: A Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count.) by RJ Blain. $2.99.
December 25, 2019: Steel Heart: A Jesse Alexander Novel by RJ Blain. $5.99.
January 28, 2020: Blood Bound: A Lowrance Vampires Novel by RJ Blain. $5.99.
February 18, 2020: Cold Flame: A Royal States Novel by Susan Copperfield. $4.99. Warning: this novel contains serious subject matter that may trigger some readers, including suicide, depression, and mental illness. Proceed with caution.
April 28, 2020: The Run Around by Bernadette Franklin. $4.99.
May 12, 2020: Grave Humor: A Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) by RJ Blain. $5.99.
August 18, 2020: Booked for Murder: Vigilante Magical Librarians #1 by RJ Blain. $5.99.
September 1, 2020: A Chip on Her Shoulder: A Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) by RJ Blain. $5.99.
Preorder at will. Or don’t. Whatever makes you happy. The female judges the health of a series or pen name by its first week of sales. Preorders are not the do all end all of a book’s life.
But they sure do help.
So, onto some news.
Bailey and Quinn’s third (and final) novel is called The Flame Game. It is being worked on in 2020. Its release date is dependent on how well Double Trouble, Grave Humor, and A Chip on Her Shoulder do. If sales are weak, she will reserve the book for a 2021 or 2022 release. (Why? Because there’s no point in setting the book up for failure, and she will have her editor work on books that may perform better.)
While I’ve talked about this before, money does matter, and the female won’t flood readers with books from a series they’re not actively wanting or buying. (Sorry, to you who really, really want their third book. She wants the book to succeed, and sometimes, that means not publishing something in a series for a while and waiting for better timing.)
Which leads us to this gem:
This won’t release until after the Flame Game releases.
(Why? It’s being written after the Flame Game, and it is unknown if there will be mentions or references to the events in the Flame Game within its delightfully murderous pages yet.)
The female is rocking in the corner crying because she really wants to work on Murder Mittens.
We hope you are looking forward to the next year. Taken by Susan Copperfield will be releasing as well, but it will be a live drop unless the female changes her mind… yet again. The novella is almost finished, so expect the novella to release as a live drop and the collection of Royal States stories (which will include Taken) to be ready before Cold Flame drops to allow people a chance to catch up in the storyline.
The collection will be presented in chronological order.
Thank you, and happy reading!

I have preordered every magical body count listed!crossing fingers for more they are like little shots of happyfunny that take me away. Thanks so much! I might have to branch out into the foxy girl very soon tho.
Liz
So many preorders!! Many many books to look forward to. Can’t wait.
Rebecca Garrett
I’ve pre-ordered most of these! One question about double trouble…. Since it’s in water witch will sales of water witch also count towards sales of double trouble? Or should I get them both to make it count? The Mag-Rom-Com is my current favorite series, but I’m trying to branch out into the other series which is why I decided on buying water witch.
Too many decisions! Lol
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Double Trouble is being viewed with its presence in Water Witch in mind. (I have a lower than average goal for that novella compared to the actual novels.) But the novels have higher goals because they are novels and take so much time to write/edit/etc.

Whoop, whoop. thank you, thank you. everything pre-ordered, so now I have something to look forward to besides the normal runaround at work. I don’t even care if the dates change.

I don’t want to wait for 2021 or 2022 when you show me a cover like that!! Bailey and Quinn were the first book I read in your world and I was so taken by them. I neeeeeeeeed more. I love your writing style. Royal States books are always an entertaining read. I wish I could buy them instead of renting from my library or borrowing from my friends!

Preorder done. Yay for Jesse.
I have had one minor question about the Jesse-verse that has been teasing me … In a world where combustion has been eliminated in an increasingly large area – how did people cook – especially in the early days? I assume that eventally there would have been a magical technological workaround but that would have been a major challenge in the early period,
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Heat generation still works. Fire does not. So, heat coil and electric stoves work. Magic came in after the invention of the regular stove, so hydro electricity could still work, solar would be in development, and other forms of energy are done. Magic can be used to generate heat, but said heat simply doesn’t combust into flame.
Fire departments, outside of combustion zones, are essentially for other forms of rescue.

Do I remember correctly that Karma is being re-released with new material? I didn’t see it on the list and was wondering as to its status.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
No. Winter Wolf was the book with added material. The material has been added, so if you need an updated copy, ask Amazon to give you the latest version!
Leanne Ridley
Pre-orders complete – something I don’t normally do, but I REEEEALLY want these books to come out, and I want Flame Game and Murder Mittens to come out a lot sooner than 2021 or 2022.
Happy writing, and then I’ll have happy reading. It’s a win-win!!!!
Adena
Will you be putting your preorders up on Kobo? (Pleeease!!?!???)
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yes. It’s a work in progress getting them live on wide vendors. As soon as most of them are live, I will make another post with all the books and where they can be purchased/preordered. 🙂 I will take care of you!

I’m sad The Flame Game will be the final Bailey/Quinn novel. I really like those two, and Perky, too. After reading Burn, Baby, Burn, I imagined Qinn and at least some of his 14 sisters transforming into an entire squadron of dragons. Cue wagner’s Flight of the Valkyries. But write what works for you. Perhaps one of the sisters could go into law enforcement.
Cynthia E
Me too! Bailey and Quinn were my first RJ novel. Perky and Perkette and th in-laws. I am just not ready to say good bye! But there are always the coming babies/terrorists!!

Yes Murder Mittens will be pawesome, and eagerly anticipated, but magical vigelante librarians… Mrrow!
Can someone please speed up the calendar?! (And increase my allowance for Kindle books while you’re at it? Thanks in advance!)

All books have been preordered. Yayyy. I can hardly wait to read them. Love, love, love everything you write. I have not found a book of yours that I have not loved.
Judith
I already preordered most of the books. The one for september I will preorder in the new year. Looking forward to all your additions to the old series, and all the beginnings of new series. preordered with amazon.
Chuck
8 books available correct for pre-order? I don’t want to miss one, even if I am getting them from Apple, not Amazon.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
There are eleven up for preorder, ten if you get only Water Witch and Double Trouble–they have not all been loaded to Apple yet. I will post again with links to all wide vendors when everything is up 🙂
Chuck
Thank you for the clarification. I will watch for the link posts. I am really looking forward to Jesse’s next adventure. Siberians are just so bad ass although some more cheetah ones would be great too!
Teresa
Hmmm. 2 of your Amazon pre-order links in this post don’t work for me:
Blood Bound
https://amzn.to/2NRmELv
and
Grave Humor
https://amzn.to/2LqcSgC
Both landing pages show the book but have “not available for purchase” messages where the pre-order with one click button should be. I’ve pre-ordered all of the other books though!
I’m excited to read any / all of your new books (even the Bernadette ones which are not my preferred genre).
Cheers!!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
You will have to contact Amazon for assistance; both links work for me and show the correct buttons. 🙁 Not sure what to tell you except to refresh the page and try again.
Teresa
Good news! You (or Amazon) sent out “New from RJ Blain” emails so I have pre-ordered the two I couldn’t get before. The pre-ordered link from the email worked. I think I’m all caught up on your pre-orders but if not, no big. I’m always tracking your books.
😀
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Amazon does it for me. But, hooray! I’m glad those links worked!

I have never made so many pre-orders at one time. I think my mouse is on fire from clicking so much! I LOVE IT!!!! I am so excited. Please keep feeding my addiction to your books and treats to the kitty overlords.
Tera
Kitties please let the human female know I have been absolutely thrilled to preorder all books currently available to do so…..also I too look forward to her being able to work on Murder MIttens. She is one of my top 5 authors that I reread on a regular basis and avidly look forward to any new works she graces us with. Be sure to giver her some extra purr time humans always need that. 🙂
Patricia
Hooray for all the pre-orders. I love your writing! Read and reread them all. Please keep doing what you do so well. ???

I have pre-ordered all titles now that I have read all the published books. RJ Blain/Susan Copperfield/Bernadette Franklin is AMAZING! I love the characters, the irreverence, the good humour, and the slightly twisted perceptions they demonstrate and the differences (and similarities) in the worlds they showcase for us. Magic, humour, puns, pranks and social commentary all very nicely packaged in stories that are so eminently readable. “Fur Management”, thank you for the sneak peaks. Let’s hope you get lots of toys and your human finds a good balance between our demands for her great books and her need for some quiet time.
