Due to being banned (temporarily) from posting and commenting, for something that didn’t even violate their terms and conditions (Ah, the Ballad of the Overzealous Bot), I will be moving away from facebook.
My new home for socialization will be discord. I am the owner/operator of the server being used. You may access the discord here: https://discord.gg/9wGn27EwPU
So, what does this mean?
It means if you want to see my cross-stitch projects, talk to me directly, and get more immediate news, you either need to be a member of my patreons (the monthly one has significantly more direct interaction with me) OR join my discord. Facebook will be limited to messenger to talk with my absolute closest friends and few other uses.
I’m… not even sorry. The stress associated with facebook has been sickening (literally) in general.
The discord has rules, which are posted in the rules channel. You can use it in a browser, on a phone or tablet via an app, or on your computer.
This change is unexpected, but if facebook wants to kick me off the platform without actually doing something wrong… well… okay. So, I’m sorry about that.
In the future, giveaways will be likely either hosted here on my blog or on my discord. (Possibly both.)
Reminder: monthly patreon users in the $10+ categories (per month) get the same exact novel releases on the same exact schedule as the per release schedule. The only difference is that the per release patreon is for those who don’t want to pay a monthly subscription or get extras.
The cut-off date for getting Plaidypus is April 25th on the per release patreon. If you sign up after that date, you may not receive the charged post, and if you do not receive (or pay for) the paid post, you won’t receive a copy of the book.
Thank you for your patience, everyone. I’m going to go scuttle back to my cave and try to figure out how to deal with my new circumstances, one without facebook in it.

Not saying that this would work for you, but another author’s Discord I follow has text channels per book series where folks can post screen captures of errors they catch. Then she sweeps through a couple times a year and updates books to correct actual errors. Makes folks feel like they let her know, keeps her from having to deal with errors on someone else’s schedule. Maybe something like this would encourage folks to NOT use Amazon’s hell button? Or maybe they’d just troll and armchair edit. You would have a better idea than I would. But I do like having the option to flag ‘his name is Maurice in chapter 2 and you called him Ted in this screen capture’ type things. I generally ignore anything that isn’t a continuity error, honestly, so maybe I’m not the best source of advice. <3

I have a link on the website, and will keep doing that. The discord completely bars negativity/criticism. It’s just not a place I’m opening up for that.

I added myself and see that now – you should absolutely have a space where you can chill and hang out with friendly folks and not have to deal with bullshit. I know there’s a way to lock channels on Discord so that you can’t see any but the rules channel until you acknowledge you’ve read the rules, but I’m hoping the people who went ‘SQUEEE! DISCORD!’ and leaped for your Discord like me wouldn’t need that.

So far so good. 🙂 Honestly, I think most people will be chill. And those who aren’t chill will deal with my little Princess Elimarna, and she don’t take no crap from nobody LOL

I use a Kindle and they don’t have discord in apps. Never mind it worked on my phone. Ps I’m not the most techy person around.??
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yeah, kindle fires are heavily crippled, unfortunately.

I didn’t realize how crippled Amazon makes them prior to my buying my latest one.
Pfui. Restricted from Google Play due to the competition between the two companies, and that’s the one I know of.

I haven’t been on FB for a few months. Other than being a hermit, FB is probably how I’ve been keeping up with friends. I do get notifications, and have been thinking about jumping back in, but then, ugh. Kindle is my primary internet connection, so it sounds like I need to get over to Patreon. I appreciate your blogs and look forward to hearing from you and the management.

I don’t think discord works on kindle fires unfortunately. 🙁 Kindles are quite limited in that regard. I have a fire… and it’s crippled.
KatyM
Good for you! I left FB for much the same reason, I said Thank Goddess and, poof, FB jail. I also don’t like their politics, Nazi style control issues and major privacy invasion.
I miss the ease of communication and my groups but no one puts Katy in a corner.
Luck. ?
