I have done a thing today. Well, yesterday, but it launches today. It was reaalllyyyyy bothering me how the per novel patreons couldn’t have access to the short stories, esp how I’ve basically opened access to the short stories to everyone doing monthly just because.
So, I came up with a solution. $1 short stories. Stories will be 2,500 to 10,000 words as a general rule, they will be $1 ea (or more if you feel like adding more. $5 and $10 will get very short micro/flash fiction sent to their inboxes along with the short story.) (Monthly subscribers will also be getting the short micro/flash fiction sent to their tiers as well.)
I will be doing backlog short stories as new episodes come out of continuations. So, for example… the potato soup girl, the next time I do a short story with her, the short story patreon will get the entirety of her collection in the first wave. (That way, the posts are available to all patreons for that.)
I will be straight up distributing the pdf/mobi/epubs in the post, and I will probably be moving to this method for the other patreons, with the post in question being deleted/the files being removed after the window for downloading is over. (What? I’m being lazy, and the bookfunnels, while it keeps the files permanently in your bookfunnel, were causing just SO many problems. I may do both for those who want to keep their bookfunnel libraries. But it was so problematic for some users. Sigh.
Anyway, that’s today’s thing.
All earnings from the short story patreon are going into my vacation/special treat/go enjoy life fund. My first acquisition will be a fancy camera for when we go on the actual vacations. Don’t ask how much the fancy camera will cost. Just don’t.
(Yes, the same fund as the upcoming pen name I will be working on in the evenings as I have time and energy, as the short stories are also worked on in the evenings as I have time and energy.)
I will be doing no more than 3-5 short stories a month at most. Short stories take me a while to write. Honestly, be impressed if you get one short story a month. I’m SO slow at short stories.
Even if you don’t participate in the patreon, don’t worry about it. You won’t miss out. It will just take longer for you to get the short story material. (Collections of these stories will be sold at $9.99 once I have sufficient number of words, probably 100-150k worth of short stories. Maybe more, probably not less.)
I will be doing the collections in audio and print formats as well.
Note: At current, the Suzie the Harpy Story is only available to the monthly patreons because it is going to end up being a novella or novel. (If I am doing this wrong, you may tell me, but I am assuming people with the short story patreon will only want actual complete short stories rather than continuations that aren’t standalones. (The potato soup story is a collection of standalone short stories for the most part, and can be read independently. Where the Suzie the Harpy Story scene by scene writing of a funny story with a really hilarious harpy female love interest. (Poor, poor Joab…)
So, anyway… if you want to toss pennies into the vacation fund and get short stories in exchange, this patreon is where you should go.

Since you will be release “back issues” of your short stories through the short story Patreon account, is there a way that you can let us know which series of short stories will be released in advance? I joined the monthly Patreon at the $5 level and the per novel Cindercorn Patreon and the only thing that I don’t have access to that I would want to buy/pay for access to is the Return of the Taco Van Killer short story from August 28, 2021. I’d be happy to pay for the short story Patreon when that is released, but I won’t know when to sign up to get it unless there is an announcement in advance. If it’s too much work don’t worry about it, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask about it.

Eeeeh, simple solution. I’ll go unlock that one in the monthly patreon. It’s ancient at this point. Another day because I have a headache, but I’ll release it to the wilds of the monthly patreon.
