These two stories will be in one of the two planned anthologies for the Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) series. Why are they not being placed in the main series?
All the stories in the main series have something to do with the end game for the series. These two stories are fun continuations, but the plot important series stuff is concluded for these characters.
As such, they will be in extra material collections, AKA anthologies.
I do not know when the anthologies will be done. (Please don’t ask, I simply don’t know. I have a bunch of series to finish first.)
I only write so fast. That pace, generally, is 50,000 words a month on the main project, and if my emotional health allows, more. But I set a stately pace of a healthy (for me) 50k a month. My entire schedule has been planned this way for my deadlines.
I am not going to run myself into the ground/kill myself overworking, so please don’t ask that of me.
The only reason there are so many preorders up is because I had so many ‘side’ projects hit the ‘this is close enough to warrant putting into the main line’ stage of being written… all at one time. Which is what happens when I flirt with 10+ different projects open on my computer at a time and allow myself to be freeeeeee~
Currently, Doggone Mess is way out of hand, it’s well over 120k words now, I will need to price change that puppy over release week, and I had wanted to be done by now so I could spend the rest of the month playing.
But no, the characters are assholes, Lucifer keeps giving me more work to do because these things need done in THIS book so I can do things in future books, because this one sets up one of the future heroines.
And then I decided that (insert thing) would be fun but the only place I can fit said thing is if I do it in the resolution of the book. AKA, the last chapter.
No, I’m not okay. This is a writer problem, and I will sit here, drink my coffee, and enjoy screaming at my computer scream over having been the UTTER MONSTER who planned this.
“I can keep this to around 100-120k,” I said.
Fuck no you can’t, bitch.
With much love,
R.J.

Your hard work is truly appreciated but, please, do not let Lucy dictate too much of what needs to be covered in these monsters. Thank you for the updates on anthology material. It is welcome. Your dedication and skilful word crafting is always enthusiastically received. Stay well and enjoy your furbabies (aka tyrants).

I love your hard work and your dedication and commitment. What I have experienced thus far of your magnificent books. They have been a blessing and healing.
Thanks

Please do not overwork yourself. Play with the kitties, take photos (that stray kitty was so cute), enjoy time with the husband. Whatever relaxes you and keeps you healthy.
The news about the anthologies (two of them, yay!) Is very welcome but your work is always a joy to reread, which helps with the wait for new stories. And really, the next 12 months are already shaping up to be amazing for us readers, with everything you’re releasing!
Xander
Gotta love it when the characters refuse to do as you want or run away on you!
Nancy
Love you too! Good luck with the writing.

Keep up the good work. Your Amazing!!

I make quilts. My favorite part of making quilts is sewing the blocks. Last year, I finished four bed quilts because I had piles of almost enough blocks for a quilt. (Bed quilts take a long time to make.) I still have several piles of quilt blocks that want to be bed quilts, but my first grandbaby is due in 2-3 weeks and I’m concentrating on stuff for him. But I definitely can relate to how a bunch of play projects can become need-to-complete projects all at once. My friends are impressed with my output, but those piles of blocks were years in the making!

Ah, yes, who could have predicted that Lucifer would be bossy and continuously “One more thing” the stories? No one, no one could have seen that. :p
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
It is like I made him specifically to be like that! How strange!!
Joanne
LOL foiled again! Darn that Devil and his sneaky ways…..
You do what you need, because if you don’t do what you need, then we the readers get nothing. How you keep 10+ story arcs straight while writing them is pretty amazing. I can do it reading, but that’s easy in comparison.
As always, I’ll read and re-read until you are ready to share. And enjoy the fortuitous bounty!

I am so excited to read the upcoming releases. I love your books. We don’t want you to overwork but we are greedy readers ?. One of my favorites was Hypnos.

I bow down to your most amazing imagination, I love this series

Goddess above, but I adore you – I love your writing so much that I clear all other emails so I can sit and read yours with the due respect that it requires, so I can savor every word.
Thank you (always) for letting us peek into your world, and sharing as much as you do with us.
NB: Be grateful we live in entirely different countries because I’d quite possible be a stalker. ?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
You may friendly stalk me in June hahahahahaa

I’ll echo the others who’ve said ‘Don’t overwork, take care of yourself.’ And as someone who loves your Lucifer and remembers Columbo, I’m imagining Satan echoing “Ah, just one more question …”

Love! Enjoy life! I am happy when one of your books comes out, but they are so good that the eager anticipation is almost as enjoyable as the book itself. Much love to you and yours!
Karen the Griffmom
Yes, Lucy is indeed an asshole. I adore your books, and price point is the last thing on my mind when a new release is pending. (Throws $$$$$$ at you.)
Heather
I am so excited! I don’t even know when they are slated for BUT I’m a happy girl! Your books are the gift I give myself! Thank you!
Abby
thank you, nice to know that there’ll eventually be another story (shorter, of course) in the Last But Not Leashed and Serial Killer Princess stories!
Becky
If Lucy gets too bad, just call Darlene. She’ll make him behave or there will be NO SPOTS. Looking forward to the monster!
Arianna Fulthorp
With the title of the book being Doggone Mess… perhaps expecting things to go smoothly was asking a bit much…?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Well, I was certainly hoping!!

So, it’s been a year since this update. Would you happen to have another update? No one wants you overworked, but your fans (of which I consider myself to be one) are curious as to how things are going. Happy 2024!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
These two titles will still be in a future mag rom com anthology.
