Bah, bah, bah. The title says it all. The company that ran authors direct has been purchased by spotify, and as of April 14 or so, the authors direct app and store and everything will be defunk.
If you have switched to authors direct, you will be emailed links to claim your title on spotify, where the books will live in the future.
My internet connection is actually down, but I’m going to be (temporarily) taking down all of the audiobook links on the website while I get everything set up with new links. (Oy, oy, oy.)
I’m sorry for the inconvenience! I was just notified today of the impending doom.
I can has a sad, because I liked authors direct very much. 🙁
In other news, audiobook edition of Moon Tamed will be coming in the next few weeks. We’re now in a late stage of production of the title.
I hope y’all are having a great day. (And somebody please tell the weather to stop screwing around with California. I need my internet connection, and the major provider got hit hard with yesterday’s wind storm.)
We’re all fine in the Blain household, although three electric poles outside of the apartment complex were taken out in a blaze (non-literal) of glory.
But to perk up the blog a little bit, I am putting two standalone play projects in my “whenever I have time, this is for fun and my entertainment” roster. They’ll both be under the R.J. Blain umbrella.
Concept 1: Post Apocalyptic crusaders novel with angels, devils, and humanity battling it out in a three-way war front.
Concept 2: Urban fantasy wizard on trains with a lot of fire. Probably also poison/necromancy themes.
They’ll appear when they appear.
(Somebody please make my internet come back, my phone is protesting the abuse…)

My sympathy. I hate when businesses I like change lol. No internet is a bitch in this day and age, it should be illegal imo.
Good luck with your weather. Stay safe :).

I’m sorry you’re having such a frustrating month. Thank you again for your transparency and the efforts you make to let your readers know all the things going on.

Re: the windstorm. We here in Kentucky (and many other states) feel your pain. I work at a tax office: 2 days without power + 3 days without internet = 5 days without business! I can only pray your outage is much shorter.
I’m also very sorry you are having to deal with the fall-out from businesses doing what businesses do nowadays: whatever they can to put a buck in their pocket, and to heck with the customers.

We’ll have the internet back on the 21st. (Insert weeping here.)

And as for the move… it DOES make good sense. Spotify has a great stronger infrastructure, and as long as they keep the audio quality up, their whole business is sound, so the app SHOULD be more reliable, etc. So I can see why they did it. But ooof, it’ll be a rough transition.
