When scavenger and hybrid fox Viva comes across a derelict in empty space, what she and her furry partner, Pandora, discover puts them on a collision course for adventure, fame and wealth—assuming she survives the experience.
Teaming up with the derelict’s living cargo isn’t wise, but the handsome stranger might hold the key to the ship and its many secrets. Add in some pirates out to profit from Viva’s living head, and she’s in for a wild ride.
Delivering the cargo to its rightful owner is the right thing to do, but getting the job done will test her skills, her sanity, and her limits.
As a reminder, Amazon does not receive the bonus short story content due to their error reporting tool. As the bonuses are just that, a bonus, they do not undergo the same editorial scrutiny as the primary product. Due to the nature of the error reporting tool, these bonus stories are unsuitable for publication at Amazon.
I may change my stance should Amazon remove, disable, or make the tool completely optional. (Or, you know, people stop using it.) If you prefer reading on a kindle, you can acquire an epub version of the book from Smashwords, which you can load into your kindle library.
You can order Life-Debt at Smashwords, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, and Apple Books.

The new Life-Debt is wonderful! I own the earlier version as well as this one, and wanted to say I’m currently rereading Audrey Greene’s MOON TAMED and appreciate how the author’s notes in your new Life-Debt is really helping me understand the background for MOON TAMED as well. Thank you!

It’s something EVERY single Science Fiction I ever write ever will include… the brutal destruction of Earth via volcanic activity.
It is a joy in my life…

Why, why do I have to work?! I can’t start this until tonight :sob:
Allan MacBain (TesterScot)
Excellent.
I have, of course, purchased the Big River version *plus* the Kobo one.
Now to carve out some time to read it!
Bill G
It may have been released into the wild, but I’ve captured it! Ha-ha! And read it, and loved it, as well as the bonus story “Drastic Measures.”
Pam
Yippee! I had this on pre-order and I’m also currently working through the Royal States series, I think they are addictive!
Carol Schmoker
Thank you for the reminder! Just wish Smashwords did pre-orders (sigh).
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I’ve heard rumors they’ll be doing preorders, it just hasn’t happened yet… I REALLY hope that rumor is true… because Smashwords pays me the best!
Pam
Excellent news, I’m off to open an account there!
Pam
Done! Whatever pays best is well deserved by any author. Bought Runaway
Patty
I completely support your stance on Amazon. (I don’t buy books from the borg bookstore unless I am completely desperate and there are no other options – and even then, I will hesitate long and loud, hoping the author will eventually come to their senses.)
Patrick
A delightful romp. Added to the “pile” for re-reading.
Elaine Parent
What are you books with bonus stories at this time… I am slowly adding them to my Kobo reader and I can go thru Smashwords if they pay you more
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Life-Debt (R.J. Blain), Dead Weight (G.P. Robbins), and 101 Ways to Die (R.J. Blain)
I honestly just love supporting Kobo, and while Smashwords DOES pay more, I FUCKING LOVE KOBO, please throw them your pennies <3 They work SO hard at trying to bring variety to the reading world!
Nina
This was a fun story! Thanks! I bought from B&N instead of Amazon, but given above comments, I’ll look at smashwords for future purchases.

Uhm. I bought the Amazon edition and it seems the same as the original. I had it marked for preorder ages ago and didn’t know there was gonna be different editions. Are the others substantially different or longer in some way? Or do I just have two copies of the same thing now?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I’ve mentioned on the blog numerous times that this was a cleaned up version. Outside of small changes, it’s the standard retail release. The non-Amazon versions have a bonus short story, but due to Amazon’s policies, the story can’t be included on Amazon’s version.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
If you’re unhappy, return it. That’s fine. I did post numerous times on the blog that it was the cleaned up version of what was in Pets in Space 7.
