… my spouse and I had a discussion about finances over the past few days, as I am planning on taking most of 2024 and most of 2025 off from heavy publication to draft books.
The following novels are scheduled for a 2024 and 2025 release. Note, this is tentative, and I may change my mind at my leisure.
- December 19: Whiskers on Kittens (As Scheduled)
- February 2024: Trickster King (As Scheduled)
- May 2024: Grave Affairs (As Scheduled)
- July 2024: A Light in the Dark (As Scheduled)
- Dec 2024: Dragon Her Heels. (RJ Blain)
- Feb 2025: Iron Unicorn (Susan Copperfield)
- May 2025: Murder Floof (Bernadette Franklin)
- Aug 2025: Partner in Crime. (GP Robbins)
November 2025 will begin the publication marathon. How many books in the marathon depends on how well the writing goes. (Note, everything EXCEPT Dragon Her Heels has already been started in the above list, which heavily lowers my 2024 workload.)
So, this is what is going to happen.
Because Patreon (my monthly) earns as much as it does, my spouse is willing to ‘eat’ the cost of book production for the publication marathon. (AKA, the savings account pays for the books if the stuff up for release can’t handle the burden of the editorial bills.) This means I don’t need to fill the future book production fund before writing, etc. The monthly Patreon is helping to pay the bills, and as long as it continues to pay out what it does, we can pay the rent plus put money aside for the editorial bill each month. The releases I am doing in the meantime will pay off the editorial and general production bills.
So, there you have it. I’m hoping this will ultimately pay off, but if it doesn’t? Well, some series will be finished, some series will be close to being finished, etc, etc, etc.
The minimum number of books will likely be 12. The maximum will be 24. (Please note that I will still be writing novels during the publication marathon.) (Yes, that would be two books in a month. Otters will be making out like bandits once the marathon begins.)
What this means is all those books up there are basically going to pay the bills for all the fun books during the publication marathon.
For the most part, I’ve already picked the titles that I’ll be working on. I will be putting up a poll for pixie+ members on the Monthly Patreon to determine the publication order. (The poll will be going up within ten or so minutes of this post going live on the blog.)
After the publishing marathon, I would be taking 1-3 months off from writing or publishing and running wild and free, likely playing WoW all day long and only writing if bored or I really want to. Because I will have earned it.
So, if you’re a member of Patreon, keep an eye out for the poll! Otherwise, have yourself a wonderful night.
Please note that while the release dates of those books are in 2025, the books will be finished sooner than that unless something goes sideways VERY quickly… most of these books are read alongs at the Patreon…
Mostly, the release dates are to make sure some income is coming in while I prepare for the big splurge of 2026.
You’re welcome.

I would love to be an otter 🙁 but once you work in the conversion from USD to AUD it’s just not feasible for me 🙁
Unfortunately that’s the same story with most of the patreon tiers.
Damn you Australian dollar being so low against the USD!!!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yeah, the AUD was rough… when we went there for our trip, we were absolutely astonished at the price differences. Because we weren’t paying much more than we are here for stuff, but the currency conversion basically meant we got to splurge on SO much of the trip because of the conversion rates. Also goes to show how freakin’ expensive my area is…

Same with Canadian dollar! Like I don’t know if it’s as bad but I do know that $14.50 USD is $19.80 CAD (just ordered something).

If you want easy-going fun gaming, try Palia. It’s free and addictive. It’s at Palia.com and, no I have no connection to the company, it’s just fun! Also, you can make progress even if you only play 5-15 minutes at a time. Great if you need a quick break from writing/editing.

I just read (again) the incomplete “Requiem for the Rift King” and the afterword, while admonishing us the book is worked on “in your spare time,” (hah!) did promise eventual publication of additional story.
I hesitate to jostle your elbow, but wondered if that’s still on any of the back burners, as I’m kinda invested in the whole “what happened next” thing. This applies to the “Eye of God” book, as well.
I’d try to use puppy dog eyes on you but I’m pretty sure you’re armored against them.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Not anytime soon. In my spare time is really just that.
I’m rewriting the first books in first person first, so once you see those go back into publication, you’ll know when the spare time came around.
Don’t hold your breath. It’ll be a while.
