Trickster King was set up for preorder before the price change to $6.99, so the book will be priced at $6.99 the day after release.
As a reminder, the price change is a direct consequence of Amazon’s error reporting tool; production costs are now $2,000 per novel higher than it was prior to the tool to cover the hiring fees of the extra editors. (And no, please do not ask me to pay someone only $45 to edit a full manuscript. First, anyone charging that little is not going to be doing the quality of work I need, and second… that is not even remotely a living OR minimum wage. I pay my staff fairly, so please don’t make any recommendations for cheap hires. I am not in the business of abusing people, and I need people who are skilled, confident of their skills, and have a strong resume. That’s well worth paying for.)
At current, the minimum cost for me to bring a book to market is between $4,000 to $6,000 depending on the length of the novel.
Iron Unicorn (Susan Copperfield) will likewise be price increased to $7.99 due to its length. (Which became absurd. Sorry not sorry.) If you want the $6.99 rate, you need to preorder it, as I will be changing the price on release day. (Afternoon.)
I will be trying to announce these price changes should the book be longer than anticipated well in advance of their launch to give people a chance to preorder.
As a reminder for those on the per novel Patreon ($5.99 “Cindercorns”); that Patreon will be retired following the release of Grave Affairs. Iron Unicorn is not a benefit of that Patreon.
As one last general reminder: any future release news of the Royal States series will be done on my monthly patreon, which you can locate here.
There is an option to have a free membership, and all news for the series will be listed there.
At current, here are the perks for the monthly patreon:
$2 Tip Jar: this is as advertised, a tip jar allowing people to throw pennies in my jar because they want to. Tip Jar members do sometimes get access to polls in addition to the news that free members get. (And sometimes I sneak extra posts in on the Tip Jar because I feel like it.
$5 Pixies: Pixies get some poll access, access to some Q&A stuff, and access to a read along (Currently Hoofin’ It on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule.) The read alongs have author notes for each chapter of the book as posted.
$10 Otters: Otters receive a retail copy of the book with Patreon notes plus everything from the Pixies tier. In addition to this, Otters will be reading along as I rework/edit Memento Mori. (Memento Mori is being posted in scene pairs: unedited scene is posted, and then I will post the edited scene with notes.) Scenes of WIP read alongs are deleted when the next scene or chapter is posted due to previous piracy issues with Patreon.
Memento Mori is a Seeking the Zodiacs world novel, and Achlys (Seeking the Zodiacs 2) will be a future Otters+ read along.
$15 Sirens: Sirens receive everything Otters and earlier tiers do plus they get an audiobook chapter every Tuesday and Thursday. Currently listening to Moon Tamed.
$25 Cindercorns: Cindercorns receive everything Pixies, Otters, and Sirens do in addition to a chaotic mess of other read alongs.
Current read along list is as follows:
- Cerulean (Sci-Fi)
- Grave Affairs
- Iron Unicorn
- Murder Floof
- Upcoming: Prince of New York
- Upcoming: Rose Valley Murders (Sci-Fi)
- Upcoming: She’s Dynamite (Pat #4. I’d say Pat & Jessica #4, but there will not be much Jessica in this book. This will be a side story.)
- Whatever I Feel Like Posting.
$100 Spicy Ponies with Bite: Basically everything else as listed above, with some extra sneak peeks as I have them, etc. Some other stuff. Stuff. (Please go to the Cindercorns tier as a general rule if you’re interested in the read along stuff. The Spicy Ponies tier is chaos. But if you like chaos, then it may be the right tier for you!
As a general reminder of series status stuff, if it isn’t listed here, please don’t ask. My brain is gone, I have to get Trickster King ready, and these are the projects I’ve been asked about recently:
Magical Vigilante Librarians: 5 books total, will be done when I am in the mood to take fiscal losses. It will be done… I just will not be doing it on anyone’s schedule other than my own. (This series loses me money, and I’m under zero requirement to work on things that lose me money on someone else’s schedule. Yes, I will finish the series. No, it is not a priority.)
This series died because people didn’t like book one and didn’t buy book two. The read through is absurdly low for the series, and should the trend continue (which it usually does), book three will cost me a significant chunka change with little hope of fiscal returns. As such, it will only be written when I have several other series doing fiscally well and they can support the losses.
Fox Witch: Book 3 (series finale) is scheduled to be worked on in 2024-2025.
Wolf Hunt: Book 3 (series finale) is scheduled to be worked on in 2024-2025.
Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) anthology #1: I will probably start working on this in the later half of 2024. This anthology will include the sequels for Last but not Leashed and Serial Killer Princess 2. Please stop panicking about these sequels. Please. For the love of all things pure, please.
Dragon Her Heels: (Mag Romantic Comedy (with a body count) December or January, depending on time, mood, etc. (It’s a slim RJ Blain year…)
Bernadette Franklin: When I finish Murder Floof, I will publish Murder Floof. Is epically slow book to write. Sorry.
Audrey Green: A Light in the Dark is available for preorder.
Pack Justice Sequel: (series finale) has a 2025 start date, possibly late 2024 (to start writing) if things go particularly well.
Lowrance Vampires: Book #3 (series finale) has a 2025 starting date.
Seeking the Zodiacs: Patreon is getting stuff currently. No estimated date of arrival for Achlys.
Everything else will be started as time and energy allow.
Happy reading!
Lynne
Thank you for so clearly laying this out. Here’s hoping the Trickster King upload goes smoothly. And oooh, the thought of Pat #4 made my day!
Tracie-Ann M Martone
happy writing…

Thanks for the update. Already pre-ordered Trickster, Unicorn, and Light in Dark

Can we buy through patreon store or do we need to go through Amazon?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
It will be available at the Patreon store at full retail value and not at the preorder pricing. You can go through Smashwords if you would like the bonus material (Short story.) If you want the Patreon notes, you will have to join the monthly patreon.

So happy to hear from you about the updates! Definitely looking forward to all of the updates coming up this year! Was so excited to hear about the continuation of the Librarians and the Lowrence brood.
Donna Jordan
I am an old cindercorn so I think I get trickster king through that and then it will be over? Thank you for the updates and I will try to get others to read librarians so you can make money on them
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
The $5.99 cindercorns will get Trickster King and Grave Affairs.
Patty
Thanks for posting the info! I was going to ask the same question as I’m the type that buys multiple copies because I can’t find my copy and I really want to reread the book right away 🤣. Or I buy the book thinking it’s the audiobook (oops).

I love your Magical Romantic Comedy (with a body count) series, and on that basis I bought Booked For Murder last year. Due to having “aspirational pneumonia” followed by COVID, I have read Booked for Murder. LOVED it – given it a 5 * rating on Goodreads, and have bought the second book to read (in between napping as that is my current state, and the reason I am not working). I am happy to wait for the sequels to Booked For Kidnapping, just thought I would let you know that one reader is very happy with the series. Thank you for writing such lovely books.

I was a cindercorn and I think I managed to switch to otter, but maybe still have both, not sure. But when you say pre-order, can we do that on Patreon, or only on Amazon?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
If you are an otter, you’ve preordered by being in the appropriate tier.
