This is not an optimistic or positive post, but it is an honest one.
I’m thinking I’m going to start giving weekly updates on the things going up, down, and all around. I’ll be answering some questions I’ve received, where books are at in the writing or publishing process, and so on. Please note that the following list does not obey typical numbering rules.
Announcement #1: Dead Weight by G.P. Robbins has been featured over at Kobo as part of a fantasy promotion!
Announcement #2: If you are looking for a new read over at Kobo Plus, here is a fancy schmancy BookFunnel list of new fantasy oriented reads. Please do give it a click and see if there is anything you like! (Yes, yes, I’m totally promoting G.P. Robbins this month. Because I love the series and want to see it do well.)
Optimism left the building at this stage of the post.
Reminder #3: Patreon is now the home of the Royal States series. If you like Susan Copperfield, you need to make use of the free Patreon membership tool or follow Amazon or Smashwords or Bookbub for the latest releases. I will eventually only update the series page with titles and so on on an infrequent basis on the website.
Please note Bookbub is not as reliable as the other three options because I am human and sometimes forget to log into my profile and add the book.
Why? The fuss people made over the Vampire of Montana audiobook edition. Yes, that absolutely does mean Royal States has been relegated to the absolute last of the last for audiobooks to be produced moving forward.
I will still make them for the visually impaired, but they will not be prioritized. They cause me a huge amount of heartache and problems for very little in the way of returns. (And yeeeah, when it takes 1-2 years for some of these audiobooks to make profit, it’s REALLY not worth doing them… and audiobooks have caused 95% of my difficulties as an author in recent years due to listener behavior.) I’ve been doing them anyway, usually out of my pocket, because I want the books to be accessible for the visually impaired and those with other disabilities that bar them from reading ebooks.
In case you missed it, my audiobook proofer is Texan and came from the region where “foal” (like coal) is actually pronounced “fowl”. Drawl out the oa sound enough, it absolutely DOES come out like fowl. Give it a try, and you’ll hear how it happens.
I was accused of lying about (check notes) where my proofer is from, the existence of this accent, and other things I don’t even feel like mentioning.
Audiobooks and print editions are not how I make money. In fact… I lose money on both of these types.
They are not prioritized as a result. 99.9% of my readers are just that: readers. I do the non ebook editions as a courtesy.
When I get nagged, bitten by people who are fussing, and so on… I am not going to continue the extra courtesy editions.
For print editions, I’m prioritizing the bazillion extra covers that were done as part of the kickstarter before placing the next order of books to do more fulfillment. I should be placing a new order for a batch of books next week to close out a bunch of orders. But the reality is?
Print editions are not how I make money. Nor are audiobook editions. They will happen when they happen. I do them as a courtesy, not because it’s a major part of how I write books.
I like being accessible, but when the price of accessibility is people treating me like garbage, the accessibility goes away. Sorry, that’s just how it is.
I’m tired of being bitten, and my tolerance for being bitten is rapidly dwindling to nothing.
So, as part of the transition process for Royal States being moved only to Patreon, the Patreon store has Trickster King in ePub format.
This will be the norm. Yes, you can read on your kindle, but you will have to make use of a tool like Send to Kindle to make it happen.
Yes, there is something up for preorder under the Copperfield pen name. No, I’m not promoting it.
While I want to finish everything I start, I absolutely will walk away from a series if people become abusive about it. I’ll end up writing it and not publishing it, because I like finishing what I start. (*I* want to know how the story goes…) And yes, calling me a liar because of an accent my proofer has absolutely does count as abusive.
It bears repeating: authors are not your bitch… and authors are under zero obligation to continue writing a series when readers decide to get abusive.
And no, I never received an apology for being called a liar, nor did I receive an apology for my integrity being questioned.
These things are important to me. I do my best to be an ethical person in a very unethical industry. This sort of unwholesome behavior grates on my last nerve, because yes… I could be a FAR more fiscally successful person if I curbed my ethics.
But I won’t.
So, I’m going to address this one final time: the Royal States series will continue until New Waters at a minimum. While I have covers in hand for more books in the Royal States series, I am undecided if I will be continuing it after Iron Unicorn / New Waters. (And yes… the Patreon crew is why Iron Unicorn happened at all, along with the upcoming Prince of New York (started but not yet available for preorder and is not yet being shared with Patreon)…
Here are the titles I’m guaranteeing (thanks to the Patreon):
- Iron Unicorn (Agents) (available for preorder)
- Prince of New York
- New Waters
At current count, I have covers in hand for seven additional books (might be more, would have to check my other folder), but it will very much be dependent on what happens with the Patreon on if these seven books get written. As long as the Patreon users support it, they probably will.
However, if retail does poorly, the books may become Patreon exclusive. (And no, not sold in the Patreon store, just flat-out membership exclusive.)
Star ratings and reviews matter for retail edition, so if you loved a book… at least rate it. That’s how authors decide if they’re going to be able to take the risk of producing more books in a series. (NO author is EVER under ANY obligation to continue a fiscally unsuccessful series…) If you bought it on patreon or smashwords and leave an Amazon review, there is NO need to list where you got the book: you paid money for it, so there is no need to place any form of disclaimer. You’re just reviewing the product on a commercial site, and it does not matter where you purchased it. Disclaimers are ONLY needed if you were given the book in exchange for the review. Patreon is being paid for and is the same as buying a retail copy.
Here’s the bitter truth: I’ve been bitten a few too many times regarding this series, and I’m really, really damned tired of being bitten. The future of Royal States as a retail entity, moving forward, really depends on retail performance, because let’s face it: I have plenty of other books I could be writing instead.
Am I bitter? Absolutely. I’m a Taurus water pig. This shit goes with me straight to my grave, although there may be a detour to the nearest fridge for snaks first.
I don’t expect nor want people to be like “yay yay” all the time, but I absolutely DO expect to be treated with kindness and respect.
I am an author… not your bitch, punching bag, or thing to be abused at your whim.
And yes, shit like this is why authors DO often decide to retreat and become unaccessible to readers.
And yes, some days… reader entitlement makes me really wish I had never pressed the publish button on the Eye of God so many years ago.
So, yes. New Waters may very well be the end of the Royal States series despite me having seven more covers in hand.
That series has, from the very start, been plagued with problems… and I’m tired of those problems. And that, honestly, is partially on me, because I don’t like giving up on a series. But even despite Patreon, I am feeling, more and more, that after New Waters, I should just close that door, because that door is where the nastiness has been.
And nobody wants to invite nasty into their home.
I love to write, but I do not love writing enough to deal with the entitlement that has been associated with the Royal States series. Yes, you can make your comments… but people seem to forget that actions have consequences.
Authors are people, and no reader is entitled to being able to abuse authors because something didn’t go the way they wanted… like a single word in an audiobook.
And yes, the pronunciation of a single world in an audiobook may truly be what ended the Royal States series early. (And put an end to any true prioritization of audiobooks.)
One day soon, I really hope readers learn that their entitlement is what costs them books. Because while I haven’t quit, I have many friends who have because of this issue. And it is tiresome af.
And no, I am not asking you to go out and buy copies of the books. That is not what this is about. This is about being treated with respect and kindness when things don’t go perfectly for a reader… rather than what happened during the Vampire of Montana’s audiobook release.
Readers expect me to entertain them and bring them joy. I expect to be treated with at least a sliver of respect and paid for my hard work. In a perfect day, I’m honestly left alone to write books, share them with people who are happy to receive books, and go about my day.
I have depression and anxiety. I write to escape as much as readers read to escape. That I share my escapes with others is an extra. I enjoy sharing things with readers so they can feel happy, too.
But it is not a default, it is not a guarantee, and frankly spoken, this is one of the hardest, most stressful careers I could have picked for myself.
I’m an introvert.
Shit like this drains me.
Do I like my readers? Absolutely. (Well, the ones who want to be happy and are made happy reading my books… I honestly don’t care about the people who don’t want to be happy reading my books; they aren’t my audience, and I don’t want people who won’t like my books reading them.)
I want to make people feel things when they read my books.
I want to make people laugh.
Sometimes, yes, I want to make people cry.
But mostly, I want to make readers feel.
And so, with the release of Trickster King yesterday, all this shit has been on the forefront of my mind. Last time I checked the book, the ratings/reviews didn’t seem to be going all that well, which is fine. (I glanced at the ranking, saw the rating was not particularly great for this early in the release, and wandered off. No, I did not read any of the reviews. The reviews are not for me. They’re for readers telling other readers why they should/should not get the book.)
If I wanted opinions on the book itself, I’d… you know… make use of this fancy website soapbox I have and ask.
(I am not asking at this point in time.)
People either liked the book or they did not, and I’m not going back and changing a book that’s already written to appeal to specific individuals.
So, yeah. That’s that.
We’ll see how Trickster King goes in the upcoming week, and then we’ll see how Iron Unicorn goe. I’ll decide that series’s fate from there, determining if I extend it beyond New Waters or just let it ride out into the sunset with Eddie and Deidre. Or if it becomes a Patreon read along that is posted, chapters deleted after their time in the sun, and the series quietly put on a shelf.
Eating the losses from a few covers won’t hurt me all that much, and if it means dodging future entitlement? It really might be worth the price paid.
I really do wish more readers learned how to be kind. Every author has limits, and fuck, am I tired of the bullshit.
And yes, I am still very bitter over the whole Vampire of Montana thing.
It was just unnecessary, uncalled for, and unkind.
Mary
I’m so sorry you had to go through all this. I really love your work – all of it.
IndiraIsReading
I love the books you write.
Tinie21
I lovs all your books and especially Vampire of Montana. I never write comments (not a native English speaker) but now I make a exception. No-one should be bullied. Writers are artists. If you dont like it don’t read it. Please keep on writing, especially the Royal States and RSP!! Your fans are more numerous than your haters!
Diane
I’m so sorry. I greatly enjoy your books. I joined Patreon for the Susan Copperfield books. I’m sure having 1 reader, who owns most if not all your books, doesn’t makeup for the hassle but wanted you to know.

Dana
And I am REALLY upset with this kind of behavior, because not only is it rude and uncalled for, but it is costing all of us (readers who love the series) the rest of the series! I know that’s rather selfish, but I have read and re-read ALL the books in the series, including Vampire of Montana, several times and look forward to the new ones as they come out.
This kind of entitled behavior has been showing up in all aspects of society, not just book readership. I don’t know the answer. I’m not sure anyone does. But every fragmented piece of society today looks down on every other piece as less than them, so obviously they are entitled to anything they want.
At any rate, I’ll step off my soapbox now. As long as there’s a cluster of “haters” out there, please know that there’s also a larger cluster of “lovers”, and we want you and your writing (of all the serieses) (is that even a word?) in it with us.
Sabina
I love the work you do and while Royal states is not where I first found your books I do adore the different characters and both read and listen to all the books. Entitlement is running rampant everywhere at the moment and over the most ridiculous things.
I do hope that the series continues but as a fellow introvert that has a hard time handling conflicts I respect your stance.
Nancy
I am so sorry you have to deal with nasty abuse over a the gifts you have given us. Some people, and hopefully it is only a very small fraction of your readers, forget that not everyone talks or thinks like, they do. I have enjoyed everyone of your books and thank you for them.
Robert D
I am so, so sorry a few stupids are giving you pain.
I know words can hurt. I hope you find a way to IGNORE the stupids so their vile spew has no impact. Sadly, I know it’s not easy to ignore the vile words.
I preorder everything you write as fast as they become available.
I have Trickster King in hand but I’m re-reading Runaway to lead into it.
I like all of your series to varying degrees but the Royal States are my personal favorite.
I have no right to tell you how to decide but I hope you continue Royal States.
Although you said you get a little more money per book through other paths, ebooks published by Amazon in Kindle format have some side benefits that are valuable to me.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
It’s not just the money. I’m treated better at other vendors as well.
Sally Antoinette
I made it to bed a 4am after finishing the Trickster King. Thank you for all the joy you give me in all the different series you write! So just try to leave the crappy stupid people behind you and know there are more of us who love and care for what you do. Really, thanks for your gift of imagination and putting it down so others so can share it.
natasjasmith
I’m very sorry for what you’ve been through. No one should have to put up with abuse of any kind. I don’t know how many objected to VoM, but I’m sure there are thousands more who enjoyed it and still do.
I discovered you through the Royal States series and have all the audiobooks. I’ve listened to them countless times. Though it is selfish, I don’t think I’m the only one who sincerely hopes you continue the Royal States novels. It is one of my go-to series that I enjoy rereading. And I look forward to each new book.
I’ve subscribed to patreon, and hope that you continue to make the books available for purchase because I can’t afford the ottors tier. I live in a country where the exchange rate is not in my favor.
Thank you for sharing your stories with us. I hope hearing from someone who does enjoy your books and appreciate your efforts helps a little.
Melissa
Due to its mention at the beginning of this post, I’m going to ask a question about Dead Weight.
You mentioned several months ago that there was a planned hardcover of Dead Weight in the works. Is that still forthcoming? I wasn’t sure if I missed a post about where I would be able to purchase one.
I adored Dead Weight when I read it and would be more than willing to save up for a fancy edition if that is still something you have planned for the future.
L Syreen
Thank you for your writing. You bring joy, and are very, very appreciated.

Just finished Trickster King. Pat is one of my favorite characters. I just wish I could eat some of his chicken and yams!
Carol A Schmoker
So sorry R.J. Hope the depression & anxiety improve& people stop being schmuck! Say hello to the furred & finned management!

Please don’t stop sharing your mind babies with us! Don’t people realize that, in a very real way, that’s what your books are?
It’s easy to say ignore the bullying jerks but sticks and stones freaking hurt!
Bullies suck and should be covered in honey and stakes out on a fire ant hill; because that’s what it feels like to be bullied.
I’m old enough to remember when there were only a few TV’s were in an entire neighborhood and now we carry the around in our hands and tots have them. Even though I’m attached to my phone (I can carry 1000 books everywhere!) I’m still of two minds whether it’s worth the headaches all this info sharing can cause.
There are tons of us out there that reading your books just brightens their day. When I’m feeling the need for a pick-me-up, one of the authors (on a very short list) I reread is you.
Thank you. You rock!

As long as people can buy your books somewhere in epub form, they should be able to transfer it to either the kindle or the nook app. That’s what I do for many of my authors when it ‘s possible to buy somewhere other than Amazon.
As to abusive comments, I recommend deleting them and blocking the sender. Why put up with crap at all. I am sorry to hear you are possibly planning on future books for Susan Copperfield to be patreon only though. That will unfortunately be the end for me.
The Trickster King was pleasant, since it gave us an expanded view of Pat’s personality. But there really wasn’t anything in the way of conflict, more like it was setting up for the stories coming later in the timeline. So it wasn’t disappointing precisely, but it’s not one I’m likely to re-read either. Unlike several others in the series, which get pulled up regularly. Nonetheless, thanks for a nice escape!
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Not everything needs to be about conflict this, conflict that.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Also… what makes you think the comments are being placed in a place where that’s an option? Like… that’s not what happened. (Some did, and yes, those were escorted to the trash bin.) Readers typically do this crap in public places I can’t control because that’s how they get their power trips.
But anyway, I’m declining a general discussion about your feelings of the book, as I wasn’t asking for opinions on the book (and said so in the post itself.) Sorry you didn’t like it, but I wrote the book I wrote, and I’m not changing it because it wasn’t to your taste.
Realistically, I very probably wouldn’t continue it through Patreon only, because it would be a significant pain in my ass, so I’d just end it there.
njb
Uh, don’t believe I said a thing about disliking this book. Sincerely sorry if I gave you that impression! I did like it, it’s just not my favorite in the series. That would probably go to Null and Void, but maybe Storm Called. It’s a nice series and my fingers are crossed that you continue it.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
S’alright. It’s a good reminder to all of us that the internet doesn’t have tone, and it’s easy to misinterpret things like “wasn’t quite a disappointment” (paraphrased) to mean “it sucked.”
Frankie
I have not given my 5 star review, as I have not yet finished Trickster King. What I have read, I have thoroughly enjoyed, and it deserves 5 stars.
Michelle
Good morning RJ,
Re accents.
I’m an Australian, did the foal/fowl thing throw me? Yes. Did I find it strange? Yes. Enough to abandon the series? Absolutely NOT.
There are many different ways to speak English in the English speaking world and anyone who is not aware of that, has a world about as wide as the empty space between their ears!
I’m sorry that there is such unnecessary drama happening, and that such pettiness seems to have risen to the surface, but I’m here to tell you that I have, and am, enjoying your work, and I wait for the release of your books with anticipation every time.
So, from Australia, we’re backing you and thanking you for the very hard work you put into your writing, just know that everyone is not mean and ignorant and the majority of us truly do enjoy the fruits of your efforts.
Cheers from Oz,
Michelle 💖
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I mean, think about Australia… and how people from Tasmania absolutely do speak differently from people from Sydney or from Cairns or from Uluru. ‘m no expert on Australian accents, but I promise you… y’all sound quite different based on which part of your country you’re in.
The two different ways of pronouncing foal are no different from those variances.
Miki
I am so sorry that so many people are ugly. I will tell you that the magical romantic comedies and hellish romantic comedies bring me much joy, and I have read them all multiple times.
Billy Lassiter
Finished Life Debt and Dead Weight.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Nothing bad about books or you, my problem is I have to wait for the next one
Barbara
I remember a meme that went something like, “I could make a million bucks if I could figure out how to punch someone in the nose through the internet.” Reading your post about the abuse you’re undergoing from “readers” has brought this to the front of my mind. Because of that abuse, one of my favorite series, that I re-read every few months because I like it so much, is under threat.
As a disclaimer,I will admit that I don’t do audiobooks, because I find them too slow, by and large. It’s likely that I would have found that pronunciation distracting, but I can’t even imagine becoming abusive over it. And I genuinely can’t grasp why anyone in their right mind would call you a liar over it.
I watch a lot of YouTube shorts about the astonishing number of “entitled people” that seem to be everywhere lately and it just … ugh. I wish you had someone filtering the villains out of your correspondence to keep this kind of garbage from distressing you.
I read all your pen names and snap up everything you produce. Please don’t give these asshats space in your brain if you can help it.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yeah, the entitlement has gotten fucking ridiculous. My general approach to life is simple. If I buy a burger, I expect to receive an edible burger. If it just isn’t to my liking, too bad, that’s a me problem. If I receive a rancid burger, I expect a refund; I didn’t get what I paid for, a burger I can eat.
Recently, my spouse and I ordered KFC, and we discovered numerous pieces in the bucket were rancid. I got lucky and got a non-rancid piece. My husband did not get lucky. We pursued a refund because the chicken wasn’t edible.
When I buy a book, I expect to receive a book. If the book wasn’t to my liking, unedited, etc… I just quietly walk off, add the author to the list of authors to avoid buying again in the future, and that’s that. I don’t buy that author again. I won’t tell that author why I’m not buying their books again, and that’s that. And there is only one author I warn readers away from because that author personally tried to threaten me with being stalked. And I only mention it when someone recommends that author’s books to me.
Because a hell no to that bullshit. (And yes… that author was informed, through a reliable third party, if they engaged or continued such behavior, I would bring law enforcement into it because that’s quite illegal. I assume the third party did as I asked, but even if not… if they were to show back up and pull shit, I would repeat myself “Keep going, that’s a Federal offense, and I’m happy to tango with you.”
Because all I want is to be left alone.
I absolutely will stand up for myself, though.
But yeah, this age of entitlement is fucking ridiculous.
Barbara
Also, I was just reading everyone else’s comments and noted the one objecting to the lack of conflict and want to state that I realized as recently as this week that I’m starting to feel reluctant to read a book that I know has significant conflict in it. I’m just tired of how hostile America feels these days and I want to read stuff that doesn’t make me feel too anxious. I mean, I know stories without some degree of tension don’t usually work well, but your books seem to offer what I’m coming to feel is the perfect level. Wait … you have terrorists and kidnapping and being driven off a bridge and even a freaking REVOLUTION, for crying out loud, so now I’m wondering where I intended to go with this… But your books DON’T fill me with anxiety, regardless.
Ok, I’m clearly dithering.
Please don’t stop writing the books I love. I can try to find one of your abusive complainers and try to punch them in the nose, if it would help. (I wouldn’t SUCCEED, mind you, but I could try.)
Robert D
Regarding accents. My wife’s family has an annual family reunion in Texas. One time, while there, my host said he needed to get something from his “wire-house”. After a little back and forth, I learned that was his pronunciation for the thing spelled “warehouse”.
Nichole Beck
I’m bipolar, and struggle greatly with it and the constant ups and downs. I wish those readers who are a$$holes would stuff their head in the sand after pulling it from their nether regions. I have adamantly loved all of your books. They create such a bright spot for me to visit over and over in my darkest moments. I’m already a paying member of your Patreon. I wish I could give more than I do. You deserve it. Thank you for writing the way you do. I, personally, appreciate it so very much.
Snapdragon
I am just sending you a virtual mug of hot chocolate and some Mexican food. Best thoughts to you and your family.

I have also devoured Trickster King twice. I enjoy the mayhem and general good that is occurring during the running around and having a vacation.
The book really made me happy, and I smiled through quite a few incidents.
Sandy May
I love your books under every one of your author names. I own them all on kindle. I am amazed at your imagination and how you can write all of the different stories at the same time. How do you keep track of all of them? I read Trickster King the day it came out. Ok I might have finished it at 4am but I started it on the same day. I can’t wait for your next release and will more than likely read it on the same day it releases.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Honestly… this is how.
Me, to someone I know: What is your name again?
Me, trying to do chores: HOW DID I FORGET TO MOVE THINGS TO THE DRYER AGAIN?
I have literally crammed books in my head and that’s all that’s there.
Brandy Mackey
I’m sorry people are being brats about your books. I know I love them. Even the ones that aren’t my favorites are still loved. I don’t understand the negativity and rudeness people feel is ok to do. I think parents need to go back to spanking kids into remembering their manners for when they grow up. I hope and have fingers crossed that you will keep writing even if you give up one of your series to lessen your frustration. Lots of prayers and patience being sent your way.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I definitely think that the gentle parenting era has raised a bunch of children who expect to negotiate over everything and cannot handle someone actually telling them no without anything else added. “No is a complete sentence.”
The younger kids nowadays, especially the gently parented ones, literally have zero idea how to deal with hard refusals and negativity, and they seem to think that they are entitled to whatever they need because their parents negotiated EVERYTHING with them. Boundaries are a serious problem with some of these younger kids, especially when I’m hiring. oof.
Melanie C
I have loved every book you have written. I don’t understand the mentality of abuse. If something isn’t your cup of tea, walk away. I found out the hard way that clients will run you into the ground, then spit on you as they walk away. And then while you’re broken, they move on and never think of the damage they’ve done. We’ve had to work hard lately with boundaries and no longer helping certain people. I’m sorry people are awful. While I personally will be sad to see any series of yours end, I do understand sometimes you have to put boundaries in place and shut a door.

“I write to escape as much as readers read to escape. That I share my escapes with others is an extra. I enjoy sharing things with readers so they can feel happy, too.” – this, thank you so much for this.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Not gonna lie, this whole Royal States thing is definitely make me rethink how I want to approach finishing series… every finished series is just me being able to promote the book one on an eternal add, stick my fingers in my ears, and not worry about it.
Like… I want to be happy and do something that makes me happy and make others happy at the same time. Nowhere in this lineup is wanting to deal with entitled prats.
I wish there was an easy solution so I could do something that makes me happy and make others happy at the same time without the entitled prats… O.O
liz
I thought the Trickster King was lovely – I really enjoyed it!
Deborah Roill
I loved the Vampire of Montana. I think it was great
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Yeah, I love the book itself. I do not love how poorly behaved people got over the book. I still read it for my enjoyment from time to time, as I really like Daphne and Princess Poppy, Chomper of Meadows.
Rozanne
Why can’t people just be kind? They just don’t seem to be built that way anymore. 🤷♀️.
I sat down and read Trickster King in one sitting, overnight last night, could not put it down! I rated it a 5, and reviewed it, but I mistakenly thought it was the end of the series, my bad. But I will enjoy every book you manage to add to it, and every other book and pen name you produce under, as I have loved and been intrigued by them all, pure entertainment! You do what you need to, to stay sane and reasonably happy, as best you can.
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
lol it’s okay, it happens every book just about. No big deal. <3 Thank you!
Pamela D Hoesing
Thank you so much for another wonderful read!! The Trickster King is one of my favs!!! Regarding the Texas accent (foal vs. fawl) My cousin was raised in west Texas. She says dawg instead of dog consistently. She has lived in Europe for 30 years. Never lost the accent. You can take the gal out of Texas but you can’t take Texas out of the gal. Thanks again for a great read!!! 👍

I read almost all genres. If I like a book, I review it on Amazon. If I don’t like a book, I stop reading it and don’t leave a review anywhere. The only time I leave a nasty review is when the author has plagiarized the book. There is an author who plagiarized another author and still does! I reported it to Amazon but nothing happened!
Wendy S.
I absolutely loved Trickster King and it is 4.8 o n Amazon and 4.7 on Good Reads as of now. I truly hope you do not let a bunch of entitled idiots dictate what you will or will not do. Try to not give them any head space. That is harder to do than to say, I know. I love almost everything you write, some of it is not to my taste, but that is a me thing and not a you thing. I would never, ever trash someone because I did not like something they wrote. Everyone has an opinion, just like everyone has an assh%#@.
Pauline Frew
I enjoyed all of the Royal States books and would be so said if some inconsiderate know it all causes the series to be cut short. So sorry you gave to put up with this nonsense.
Jessie Keating
I cannot believe the stupidity of people. The very same people complain about bullying then hypocritically go and bully you. Who cares about a pronunciation? Are they God? Are they omnipotent? Do they know everything in the universe? If so then they can hang with Satan in hell, I’m sure he has a room just for them. An audiobook is a kindness, not a thing to get pissy over because it is not up to a jerkoffs expectations. People need to be grateful they got anything at all. You don’t have to be nice and make them.
I have every book written by every pen name you have. As soon as I got hooked by one book I went looking thru the kobo bookstore for everything you have. Every penny was well spent as every book has been a bright light in crappy days. Now I have to be terrified that a series full of characters I love and can relate to as REAL people will now be ended because of a Jackass. I have a back forty with a bog…just saying if you know where to find this jerk. I don’t want to risk losing 7 books because of a hypocritical jerk. I really hope (quite possibly praying here, wow a convert!) that you won’t quit before the real end of the story. Or at least email me the rest so I know then? I get obsessive about stories and I NEED to know the end. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Oh hon, I am so sorry this is happened and happening to you. You don’t deserve any of this meanness. You bring such enjoyment to so many of your readers. I just finished The Trister King and it was great!! Loved it! Great story and I like to read books that have happy endings. So I want to thank you for that and I really hope people will wake up to what they are doing because I for one don’t want you to stop writing.
Much love,

I love the world of Royal States. I found it by accident on Amazon and binged. I love that your characters have flaws and sometimes severe issues but they still try still have hope. I am truly grateful that you share your stories. I find it very disturbing that people think this negative behavior is acceptable. It’s not. If Patron is where I need to be to get my fix ok I’m there!
Appreciate you so very much!
