When a spaceship accident costs Camellia her chance to explore the universe as a botanist, she jumps at the chance to be a test subject on an experimental voyage. If the gamble restores her hearing, her dreams for the future will no longer be out of reach.
Venturing into the depths of space is dangerous enough, but when a shiftgem gate develops a mind of its own and yanks them into uncharted space, Camellia’s skills and tolerance are tested. Her chance to explore a new world proves to be a bitter pill to swallow upon learning the truth: some discoveries are best left lost.
How can Camellia, with the help of a grumpy pilot, his cat, and his crew of space-faring predators, safeguard an entire planet incapable of protecting itself?
The answer may cost her everything, including her heart.

When will become available in paperback? Loved the first in the series
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
Not until after the holidays/into the new year. I need the cover design for it, so it’ll wait until the designer is done with holiday break.

Happy Yule and may there be plenty of pretty birbs pix in your New Year. So many of our resident birbs are migrating south.

I’m still only a third of the way through the book (it’s been a very busy week!). I keep a notes file with quotes that strike me as helpful or lovely. This one is both: “It is not selfish pride to listen to your heart’s song. That is caring for yourself, something that every being must do from time to time to thrive.”
This has a note all to itself!
Lynne
I got my print copy yesterday and the print version is even more fabulous than the digital, due to the chapter heading illustrations! Did you draw them?
The Sneaky Kitty Critic
I did not draw them, alas! One day, I might do some of my own illustrations for kicks and giggles, but these were not my design. Bought the licenses.
Lynne
Well, they definitely added an extra layer of wonderful to an already amazing story. Thank you!
