I am clearly the best at blog post titles. I am currently playing a game of “Food poisoning? COVID? Norovirus? SOMETHING??” that involves a sad amount of upset digestive system, including vomiting. In good news, I’m not Ginger from Ginger Snapped sick at this stage. HOORAY! In bad news, I’m definitely sick.
I’ll be fine. I’m hydrating just fine, I have found the foods that I can keep down without incident, and I’m trucking on. I’m only at my computer right now because I got bored of taking a nap. I will absolutely return to my nap when I am bored of being at my computer.
I’ll spare you the rest of the details.
Anyway, Karma (audiobook format) is available for a hefty discount over at audibooks.com. (Bonus: I’m still getting paid my regular royalty cut!!) It always makes me nice, warm, and fuzzy when vendors do really nice things for me… like pay my regular royalty cut when they do a fancy little sale like this. :3
So, if you are interested in trying one of my audiobooks at a steep discount, here is your chance! Hooray!
Speaking of audiobooks, I’ve gotten a lot of work done on the links for the menus. I’m still working on the links for Kobo eBooks, but a lot of the basic footwork has been done. You can just tap on the menu to see all the various vendors available for your enjoyment.
Note: Yes, I know Grave Affairs at Kobo is messed up. I’m currently at the ‘turn it off and turn it back on’ stage, and if I can’t get it fixed myself by tomorrow, I’m going to contact customer service and have them deal with it.
But yes… this is also why Kobo isn’t getting preorders at the moment. I can’t even get things to live launch right now without issues. (I suspect I’m somehow the problem, but…)
Amazon Print Editions: A bunch of books have been uploaded, and I’m updating the print editions link tree as they process.
Other print editions: I’m sick so please add 1-2 extra weeks for me to work up the will to deal with more print editions.
Amazon print editions will happen faster than the 4.25×7 mass market size due to difficulty level. Amazon print editions are much easier to process for my designer than the 4.25×7. (One takes 10 minutes, the other takes 20-50 depending on how stupid shit gets on me.)
Fastest I’ve ever had is 20, and we won’t discuss that one time I needed almost two hours to figure out why the site wouldn’t cooperate. I had to change browsers. Go figure.
Anyway, progress is progress.
Google Play has been updated with pretty much everything but I have to wait for stuff to process before I have live links. My distributor for audiobooks is going to try to look into why Google Play is missing most of my audiobook collection when they’ve been processed for sale.
Look at all those links for you to find stuff! Hooray!

And since I’m sick and I feel like showing you the difference between my old home and my new home…
Here is my current space for my mugs. Please note that this is over my head and I have to stand on my toes to reach the mugs on the lower shelf. It is positioned directly over my sink, and I have to stretch over the sink to access them.
I cannot reach anything in the second shelf.

This is my cupboard in my new home. I can, without much difficulty and only a little toe standing, access the second shelf, where I will stash the mugs I use least often. Yes, I have a beer making kit up there for my spouse, which I intend to use on his behalf because the process fascinates me more than it does him. So I guess I will make the beer and he’ll drink the beer. Whatever works. I have additional storage space for mugs I don’t use often over my refrigerator, which is accessed with a step stool. HUGE improvement.

Next up is the dishes area in the old apartment. The coffee jar is currently there because why not, as we’re starting the process of cleaning and transferring our dishes to the new place. ALL of our dishes have to go in this space, because I can’t reliably reach the cupboard above it. I can stretch and stand on my toes, which is why I have things that I don’t mind if they fall up there right now. It’s basically unusable space.

This is the current space for my dishes. Those are liquor bottles. Together, they are the same width as the big plates in the previous picture. Extra mugs and china will go in the tippy top space I cannot reach without a step, which is fine.

This next group of pictures will hurt your feelings. It hurts mine, often. This is the sole amount of space I have for pots, pans, bakeware. The picture beside it is one drawer for my food storage containers, small utensils, other bits, because the design makes it useless for storing pots/pans/etc. I have kept my fat / oil strainer in it to give you an idea of size. There were two of them. The drawer above it is very tiny and is the current “holds my Chef Preserve stuff” drawer.

This is the storage in the new place for this purpose. These kitchens are not THAT much different in size, y’all. The designers of the new place knew what we want, and it’s storage. (But the kitchens ARE different sized, but not THAT much different in size.) The old place is just that poorly designed.
So, all those mini appliances were actually living on bookcases in a different room of the apartment, and they’re now in the kitchen. I have an entire sideboard for extra storage, and I will likely use it as an extra pantry.

I am not taking a picture of my current spice situation outside of this image, because I can’t reach where the avocado oil lives without intervention and help, and I already removed all the spices that were piled everywhere because no space. They currently live in the new apartment, in their appropriate places. (If I need a spice, I just bring it back with me after a moving trip and take it back when done.)

The tears of joy are real, y’all. The top shelf will store extra mugs, China, etc. My favorite/most accessed spices will go on the rack, everything else will go above. Life is so much better in my new kitchen.
I am allowed to install nails and hooks and stuff, but I’m not allowed to use adhesives, so I installed hooks in the kitchen to make use of that space there. I will absolutely be using adhesives on the tiles as I see fit. They’re tiles. It’s not gonna hurt it. yes, I currently have a spoon rest on the griddle, because I’m not sure how often I’ll actually use the griddle, we’ll see once we move in.

The rent on the new place is absolutely terrifying, but we’re going to be so much happier in it. We will have space to breathe again. I mean, the fact we’re decluttering like WTAF is helping, but the place is just THAT much more spacious.
We HAVE storage here now.

I mean, we have STORAGE. And yes, we just bought a LOT of kitty food because of reasons. This will be better packed / organized as we go, but this is a good enough start.
Our old place only has three closets, and they all suck.
This place has closets everywhere, can’t move without finding a closet! ALL the closets. Or cupboards. Even the bathrooms have ALL of the storage. This is the SMALL bathroom, and it has two drawers and the under sink area is MASSIVE.

This is the larger bathroom, and what you aren’t seeing is on the end, there are small but functional drawers flanking the sinks. There is under sink storage. There is so much storage I literally don’t know what I’m supposed to do with everything.
Spoiler alert: I bought a massive box of bath bombs and shower steamers from GeekyClean to put into the drawers. Husband saw the box. Husband is not pleased with me…
He’s wrong. GeekyClean BathBombs include DICE. I am not accepting criticism for my self-care choices at this time.
Please ignore the clutter. I tossed the moving box into the apartment at random, and it landed on the road trip clutter we haven’t dealt with yet because we’re both sick.
Yes, that is Princess, yes she is passed out, yes, she chose to cram her head into that box’s corner. We are just dodging her box right now so she could enjoy it for an extra day or two. And it’s not like we’re doing much with moving while we’re both ill.

Happy Monday. I’m going to try to eat baked potato soup and hope it stays down. If not, back to the ensure…
Love the before ‘n after pics! I am not quite a year past an extensive renovation designed in large part to add storage, and I have no regrets.
Get better soon 😉
You’re going to like the beer-making process. My husband made a honey mead that was delicious! And every spring, when the dandelions explode across the neighborhood, it’s time for dandelion wine! Umm … liquid sunshine in a bottle!
My grandfather used to make a corn wine that was Death In A Bottle. I can’t provide the recipe, thank fate.
So excited and happy for you 🙌
I hope you are all well soon, and that good fortune favors you in many different ways. And please give Princess a warm, loving stroke from me.
Randy Laplante
Get well soon! Start to enjoy your new space as soon as you can. Best wishes
